The Story Behind Being a Certified Watch Repair Expert

Certified MONACO, Co-Axial, and Breitling Watch Repair - New York, NYFor each watch type, Ron Gordon explains the certification process. In his own words,

  1. Certified Monaco Repair – I received training required by the manufacturer on the particular caliber that is used on the Tag Heuer Monacos and Carrera chronographs. ex. caliber ETA 2894-2 and the ETA 2892 with the dubois depraz chronograph module. This caliber movement requires special tools to work on them. When the training was over and the instructor was satisfied that I had met the official requirements that are needed to work on these caliber movements I was certified. My workshop had to be inspected to insure that it had the required equipment to work on these watches.
  2. Certified Co-Axial – I received instruction required by the manufacturer to work on the particular caliber that Omega uses on their Co-Axial watches. The escapements on these watches require a microscope to lubricate them properly and they have to be done in a particular way. This caliber movement also requires special tools to work on them properly. When the training is finished and the instructor was satisfied that I had met the official requirements that are needed to work on these caliber movements I was certified. My workshop had to be inspected to insure that it had the proper equipment needed to service this watch.
  3. Certified Breitling – I received instruction required by the manufacturer to work on the particular watches, Breitling uses the ETA 7750 chronograph movement in their watches. This caliber movement requires special tools to work on them a they have be lubricated in a particular way in order for them to function correctly. When the training is finished and the instructor was satisfied that I had met the official requirements that are needed to work on these caliber movements I was certified. My workshop had to be inspected to insure I had the proper equipment to work on these watches.
